Our denim is available in all three fits, our chinos in two fits and our seasonal and loungewear bottoms are made in Regular or Loose Fit only. Old Description:

Kurabo Industries is one of the oldest, and few remaining, Japanese heritage denim mills. Their history dates back to 1888 with the founding of a cotton spinning facility in Kurashiki, Okayama. In 1973, Kurabo entered the denim business, developing the ring-spun KD-8 yarn for raw denim. This heritage yarn is still the base of the denim product that we now source for our 13oz raw denim jeans. Today Kurabo operate in-house engineering and spinning in Japan and overseas, but work with a tight-knit network of partners for other manufacturing processes.

The quality we source for our organic cotton raw denim is spun in Kurabo's own facility in Thailand, whereafter it's shipped back to Japan for dyeing, weaving and finishing with Kurabos trusted partners in the Okayama prefecture.

Washing raw denim is \"optional\" and depends on how you want them to end up looking and fitting. For a an in depth guide to raw denim check the denim care guide. If washed, a pair of raw denim should be worn for minimum six months before the first wash to get the best result. But it is also a matter of how much they have been used. To know when your denim are ready for their first wash, look for visual evidence of wear and tear, like creases and contrast where the indigo has bled out.
In short: Washing the denim after a shorter period of wear, will produce a more uniform indigo color. If you wait until you get visible evidence on the denim, the result will be more high contrast fading points, “whiskers” or “honeycombs”. Other reasons to wait with the first wash of the denim is to minimize the shrinkage and the possibility for bleeding, the dye sets into the fabric over time. Before wash, turn the denim inside out and fasten the buttons in the front this helps to cut down on friction created during the wash cycle and prevents fading of the denim.
We recommend two different options of washing the jeans:
Soak the trousers in tepid water with a mild detergent for about one hour – do not scrub or rub! Remove the jeans from the water and rinse with water to remove any leftover dirt, dye or detergent. Roll the denims to remove any excess water.
Wash the jean in machine on a gentle cycle. Make sure to wash them alone or with similar colors, as the indigo will bleed. Do not tumble dry.
To prevent your denims from wrinkles, remove promptly from the washing machine, turn the right side out and hang dry from the waistband. Stretch the inseam while the jeans are damp to avoid too much shrinkage lengthwise.
Put an old towel under the jeans to catch any dye that might drip.
