Traceable merino wool

Merino wool is a naturally produced, renewable and biodegradeable fiber that can be mechanically recycled into new fibers. Merino sheep live in challenging climate environments, such as Argentina, Uruguay and Australia with hot summers and cold winters. As a result, the sheep's wool has developed to be naturally temperature regulating, moisture wicking and even odor neutralising. These qualities make wool a highly desirable material. The wool is obtained by shearing, cutting the sheep's wool, typically once per year. Merino wool comes from a specific breed of sheep with a finer fleece, with longer staples and lower micronage (the diameter of the wool fiber), allowing for the creation of smoother, softer and stronger yarns, ideal for fine knits.

We only work with Merino wool that is 100% traceable, Mulesing-free and RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) and NATIVA™ certified. These certifications require farmers to implement management plans that assess feeding, breeding, behavior, handling, health, and infrastructure. Sheep are treated in accordance with the Five Freedoms, which include freedom from hunger, discomfort, pain, fear, and the freedom to express normal behavior.

Collaborating with our mills and sourcing partners we achieve traceability down to the individual farms and are able to follow the wool downstream, through our entire supply chain. We source merino wool for our finer knits and accessories, where we want a smooth handle and lustre in the final knit.
