Jordan Bunker's Pursuit Of Less

In our strive to declutter our lives from excess, and focus on fewer but better things we turned to menswear enthusiast Jordan Bunker for inspiration. After nine years of work in the fashion industry, he’s actively working on reducing his wardrobe. Head down to explore why - and how he’s doing it.

Why did you decide to create a smaller, but better wardrobe?

Having now worked within menswear for the best part of nine years, my opinions on fashion have certainly been moulded overtime, going through various experiences to be where I am now. Clothing has value, and I think that’s lost on most people. From its materials, to the hands it passes through, we should look after our clothes with the same amount of effort it takes to produce. Excess is so easily incurred in today’s landscape, so to step away from that and the noise has been freeing. I don’t miss it one bit.

What do you look for when buying something new (or used) to add to your wardrobe?

It’s certainly a process. There'll always be that initial pull towards something, yet there’s a lot more consideration to the purchases I buy now and I take my time with them. Revisiting websites on multiple occasions and thinking about what that item will do for my wardrobe: will it serve an additional purpose to what I own already, or is there overlap to something I currently have? I’ll also look at the materials the item has been made from and, if I can, where and by whom. It’s not an exact science, but the more information I can yield, the easier it is to make a more informed decision.

What color palette do you gravitate to and why?

This is an easy one for me: navy and grey. I find them the most versatile when getting dressed each day, and they are the colours that I feel the most comfortable in and will be the base of most of my outfits. That being said, I have enjoyed adding a bit more colour sometimes, that could be a bolder blue or red, just something that adds an extra layer.

What are your 3 go-to essentials?

White t-shirt, wide fit navy trousers and although I don’t wear them as frequently as I used to, a pair of white trainers. I’ll always keep going back to them.
