Manufacturing
There are no shortcuts in creating genuine goods. We're proud of the raw materials we use and all the mills and manufacturers we work with. As far as possible, we trace and disclose all the facilities and suppliers involved in creating our garments.
Below you'll find the latest overview of our supply chain, where our raw material sources, mills and manufacturers are located and what we look for in every supplier. On each product page, you'll find the exact supply chain of the garment, its costs and environmental footprint – process by process, supplier by supplier.
Our farms & raw materials
We source exclusively natural fibers and are phasing out the last remaining synthetic main materials in our range. Our cotton garments are made from organically farmed cotton, originating predominantly from the United States, Egypt, Turkey and India. Our flax fibers are farmed in Belgium and France. For our wool garments, we source exclusively fully traceable RWS certified and mulesing free Merino wool from Argentina and Uruguay, as well as Italian GRS certified recycled cashmere and recycled wool. Read about all our materials here.
Our mills
The majority of our yarn and fabric mills are located in Portugal and Italy, with a few specialist mills in Turkey, Japan and South Korea. We work with bleeding-edge, heritage suppliers such as Candiani and ISKO in denim, Tollegno 1900 and Manteco in wool, Albini and Somelos in shirting. Our trouser fabrics are supplied by TBM Tessuti Italiani and our jersey, fleece and pique are custom developed in Portugal. All our wool yarns and fabrics are GRS, RWS and OEKO-TEX certified, all cotton yarns and fabrics are GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified.
Our manufacturers
Without exception, all our cutting, sewing, washing, pressing and packing processes are carried out in facilities located in the European Union - the majority of which in Portugal and Italy. Our Portuguese manufacturers work with t-shirts, sweatshirts, shirts, trousers, underwear and outerwear. Our Italian manufacturers work with denim, underwear, scarves and belts. Our knitwear is manufactured in Romania. We visit all our manufacturing facilities regularly, in person, forging long lasting relationships with the best product in mind.
